AirPeace Resumes Operations At PHIA
Air Peace, one of the
nation’s indigenous airlines has launched its maiden flight to the Port Harcourt International Airport Omagwa, from Abuja on Friday October 24, 2014.
The aircraft which touched down the Port Harcourt International Airport at 6.35pm with few passengers on board the maiden flight has shown sign of seriousness in the competitive air transport business in the country.
The airlines’ new aircraft with registration number 5N – QRN was however, expected to arrive with some senior officials of the outfit but that was not to be, as the Port Harcourt Station Manager, Mr Uchedike Godfrey was saddled with the responsibility of attending to the initial issues that greeted the arrival of the aircraft.
Mr Godfrey who had earlier mobilised for support and cooperation of all stakeholders at the airport was equally taken aback when the senior staff expected to speak to Aviation correspondents were not on board the aircraft.
He, however, managed to tell the newsmen that the airline has commenced operations and would be undertaking daily scheduled flights.
Meanwhile, the chairman of the airline Mr Allen Onyema at a recent training of staff said it was a platform for staff to plan ahead on how to effectively man an airline that is expected to change the face of air travel in the country.
Mr Onyema disclosed that the airline has five aircraft on ground, and expects to take delivery of the sixth aircraft, adding that the retreat would provide an opportunity to educate the personnel of the airline on the need to imbibe zero tolerance for accident.
The Chairman, added that the training would herald the start of operations, noting that the airline would build its unique service on the timely departure of its flights.
