Rivers Port Assures NDLEA Of Conducive Environment
The management of the
Nigeria Ports Authority (NPA), Rivers Port complex, has assured the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NPA), Rivers Port complex, of creating an enabling environment for their operations.
The Port Manager, Rivers Port Complex, Mrs Caroline Ufere, gave the assurance when the new commander of the agency paid her a courtesy visit in her office recently.
Ufere said the important role played by the agency at the ports could not be over-emphasised and described their visit as timely.
She stressed the need for NDLEA to certify all cargoes after checking in the port and solicited for a closer relationship to enable faster port operations in Rivers Port.
The Rivers Port boss further assured that the creation of a good working relationship and atmosphere would bring about quick service delivery as well as interface, in line with the mission and vision of the complex.
Ufere promised to carry out more enlightenment campaigns through effective publicity to create awareness and to educate the Port users, staff and other stakeholders on the dangers of during abuse, and thanked them for the visit.
In his response, the NDLEA boss in Rivers State, Mr Victor Cole, reiterated that with the partnership, the agency could effectively tackle and fight against drug abuse and enforce the law.
Cole noted that the visit was predicated on the need to ensure smooth operational services and trade in the Port and assured of better co-operation to facilitate port operations.
Meanwhile, the management of Rivers Ports has also appealed to all its debtors to offset their indebtedness to the port for better port services.
The Port Manager, Mrs Caroline Ufere who made the appeal during a visit to the Port Harcourt Flour Mills recently said with the offset, they could fix the deplorable Port road and other facilities for the use of all stakeholders.
According to her, all debtors should fulfill their obligations to maintain the cordial business relationship, and thanked them for the warm reception.
While responding, the General Manager of the Port Harcourt Flour Mills, Hendrich Badenhorst promised to cooperate with the ports management for better services.
