Kano Disburses N1bn Car Loan To Civil Sevants
The Kano State Government said on Monday that it had disbursed N1bn as car loans to its civil servants in the last three years.
The state’s Head of Service, Dr Umar Minjibir, disclosed this while briefing newsmen as part of activities to commemorate this year’s Civil Service Day.
He explained that the loans were given to various categories of civil servants to ease the difficulties they faced in transporting themselves to their various places of work.
“The loans were given to the state civil servants to enable them go to work with ease and improve their productivity,” Minjibir said.
According to him, the state government has within the last three years recruited over 7, 000 fresh graduates into the state civil service.
“The recruitment of these fresh graduates was borne-out of the present administration’s commitment to reduce unemployment among the graduates,” he said.
Minjibir disclosed that the state government had set aside 500 houses in the three new cities being constructed by Gov. Rabiu Kwankwaso to be sold to civil servants at affordable prices.
“The circular to that effect has been issued and we have started getting responses from interested workers,” he said.
He said during the week-long activity, 10 deserving civil servants, who distinguished themselves, would be honoured by Gov. Kwankwaso at the Government House tomorrow.
He said that the governor would also present trophies to three cleanest Ministries, Departments and Agencies.
Minjibir commended the civil servants for their continued support to the government, pointing out that without their support and commitment, no meaningful development could be achieved in the state.
