Residents Bemoan Water Shortage In Kubwa
Some residents of
Kubwa, a satellite town in Abuja, have expressed dissatisfaction with the shortage of water being experienced in parts of the town.
In separate interviews some of the residents complained of low pressure from their water taps while others said that they had gone for days without water supply.
A resident at Phase 2, Site 2, Salisu Ahmed, told newsmen that the shortage had posed a major challenge to the well-being of residents.
“You know water is very essential and man can hardly survive without water; the experience of water shortage in the past two weeks has made life unbearable.
“The FCT Water Board has been very effective in the past and for this problem to linger for about two week implies that there must be a technical problem.
“I only hope they can rectify it within a short time,’’ he said.
Victor Sanni, a resident of Phase 4, said the shortage had forced his family to source for water wherever they could find it and that they could not guarantee its purity.
“Most houses in my area are affected by the shortage and we have to depend on the boys who supply water for a fee. We also consume pure water (water in sachets).
“We are not sure of the source of the water we consume but we don’t have any other choice; the hot weather makes the situation even more unbearable,’’ he said.
