A’Ibom To Partner Women Builders On Housing Dev
The Akwa Ibom State
Government has said it would partner with professional women builders in the country to build standard and affordable houses for people in the state.
The government position is contained in a statement issued by the Akwa Ibom Deputy Governor, Lady Valerie Ebe, when the Association of Professional Women Builders in Nigeria paid her a courtesy visit.
Ebe said building from any point of view was the art of bringing materials and resources to successfully attain the goals of infrastructure development for which the State was known.
She said “I used to wonder whether women can actually work and really stand out to make an impact in areas or fields that are known to be men’s field until this body came out with this unique idea of bringing women into the building industry.
“We have a gender-friendly governor who has brought women into the position of public trust, unusual for women in the past.
“Such positions of public trust include that of the deputy governor which I occupy, as well as female commissioners, among others.’’
