Edo To Establish Two Varsities
Two bills to establish
two universities scaled through second reading in the Edo State House of Assembly in Benin recently.
Out of the two varsities, one would be university of education to be located at Ekiadolor in Ovia North East Local Government Area of the State.
Leading the debate for the bills, the Majority Leader of the House, Mr Philip Shaibu, said the universities, when established, would be run under a Public/ Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement.
Shaibu (APC- Etsako West), added that the two universities would attract fees as quality education was not free anywhere in the world.
He said the institutions would provide employment for people and boost economic activities in their respective locations.
The bills received the unanimous support of other members who spoke.
