School Holds Maiden Inter-House Sports
Deeper Life High School (DLHS), Port Harcourt, has held its maiden Inter-house sports competition.
Speaking in an opening remarks, the chairman of the occasion, Prof. Steve Tamuno, described inter-house sports competition as an important component of any serious academic and intellectual vocation.
Prof. Tamuno noted that even the Holy Scriptures attest to the fact that, “for bodily exercise profits for a little while, but godliness exercise profit unto all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come.”
According to him, the scripture indicates that man is tripartite being, that is spirit, soul and body.
He said the school inter-house competition was organised to get the little profit of bodily exercise to add to others so that quality results would be achieved.
Presenting an address, the principal of DLHS, Port Harcourt, Mrs Atim Uwah, who described the inter-house sports as the first, said it was a memorable day for the school.
She said the students in different houses practiced over time and prepared to compete and show their sports skills.
She encouraged the students to put in their best and exhibit the great talents in them.
Blue House (Love) grabbed the first position, Maroon House (Purity) took second while Green House (Peace) came third.
Prizes and trophies were awarded to the best performing students and their various houses.
