RSESA Warns Port Harcourt Residents On Lawlessness
Henceforth, defaulters of sanitation laws would face the wrath of the law, the Rivers State Environmental Sanitation Authority (RESA) said on Monday.
The agency’s Sole Administrator, Mr Ade Adeogun, who gave this indication in a statement in Port Harcourt, said, “The law is there and the penalties clearly spelt out; what we decided to do is to ensure that offenders are made to face it.’’
Adeogun said it was the authority’s hope that the decision would improve the sanitary conditions of the people of the state, and noted that some residents of the city violated the laws governing environmental sanitation with impunity.
“In some areas of the state capital, people do not come out for the monthly environmental sanitation exercise. “This has made the surroundings in such areas look so unclean and unhealthy; this is not our intention for the state,’’ he said.
Adeogun said that the authority would ensure vigorous monitoring of the sanitary habits of the residents, both in residential homes and business premises.
The sole administrator further urged Port Harcourt residents to imbibe good sanitary habits to ensure a healthy living for the citizens.
“Sanitation is everybody’s business; it is necessary for a healthy living, so we all have to play our roles,’’ he added.
