15 Ships Berth At Port Harcourt Port
No few than 15 ships carrying 191,060.415 tonnes of goods
berth at the Port Harcourt Port in Rivers State this week, while 84 ships laden
with various cargoes are expected to sail into Lagos Ports from Monday this
week till August 28, 2012.
The shipping position, an authoritative paper of the
Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), made available to our correspondent in Port
Harcourt showed that six ships are carrying rice, and others conveying bulk
cement, frozen fish and Petroleum products, while three are carrying bulk
wheat, bulk salt and steel pipes.
Our correspondent gathered that the ships carrying rice are
MV Sea rose, MV Dash Bandhu, MV Johan
Moni, and MV Aisha Sarwar as well as MV Beks Nasir and MVFGM admiral.
It stated that MV Global Brave and MV Pacific Honour are
laden with 25,000 tonnes of bulk cement each.
The Tide also gathered that MV Green Glacier and MV
Andromedia are carrying frozen fish, as nine other ships with rice, frozen
fish, Petroleum products are anchored at the fairway Buoy, Bonny, awaiting
clearance to sail into the Port.
Meanwhile, the Shipping position report from Lagos indicated
that between August 13 and 28, 2012, a total of 84 ships laden with various
cargoes are expected to sail into Lagos ports.
The Vessels are carrying old and new vehicles, fish, rice,
Petroleum products, bulk salt, soya beans, baulk wheat, sulphur and sugar as 47
expected ships were at the ports this week.
The report also showed that 18 ships are awaiting to berth
at the Ports with various cargoes ranging from general goods, sugar,
containers, fertilizers, fish, corn, wheat, salt and rice, while four of the
expected ships are carrying 1,158 unit of used vehicles (Poro) as 14 ships
carry 5, 735 new vehicles.
