… Mrs Amaechi Advises Repentant Militants
Following President Musa Yar’ Adua’s amnesty proclamation to militant groups in the Niger Delta region, wife of the Rivers State Governor, Dame Judith Amaechi has enjoined repentant militants to embrace Christ and seek God’s ultimate salvation.
Mrs Amaechi gave the advice during the meeting of the Presidential Amnesty Implementation Committee with stakeholders in Port Harcourt.
The governor’s wife said that though the federal government’s amnesty is commendable, the repentant youths should seek God’s salvation which she described as ultimate freedom.
According to her, “the amnesty is indeed commendable and a road map genuine and sustainable peace in the Niger Delta, our repentant youths should seek God’s salvation as a way of consolidating their freedom and total redemption”.
Mrs Amaechi added that “it is only when God grants peace that you are freed indeed and have peace in your heart”.
Mrs Amaechi stated that total rehabilitation of the youths must include their spiritual rebirth adding, the youths must be raised on the path of righteousness and Godliness.
The Rivers First Lady called on women in the Niger Delta region to intercede in prayers for the salvation of the youths, adding that they (mothers) will give account of their responsibility to their children as entrusted in them by God.
The founder of the Empowerment Support Initiative (ESI) pledged to use her NGO to complement the government’s empowerment and employment generating initiatives especially in Rivers State.
