Customs Seize 15,000 Pornographic Films In Lagos
The Nigeria Customs Service has confiscated about 15,000 copies of pornographic and pirated DVDs brought into the country from Benin Republic.
Displaying the seized films, Thursday, at a press briefing at the Custom’s House, Comptroller of Customs, Federal Operations Unit (FOU), Ikeja, Lagos Tahir Musa said the seizure, the first of its kind, was the result of the agency’s fresh onslaught against counterfeiting and piracy in the country.
The comptroller said that the importers of the offensive films were arrested around the Agbara area of Lagos on their way from the Seme Border, by his men who acted on a tip off.
Musa lamented the “devastating effect of piracy on the Nigerian film industry”, vowing that his command will intensify the fight against the perpetrators.
The customs command, apart from the seized films, also impounded 720 cartons of frozen poultry products neatly packed in six golf cars.
