NAOC Commissions Lecture Hall In Delta State Polytechnic
In a move to improve the a academic environment of tertiary institutions in the host communities, the Nigerian Agip Oil Company (NAOC), has commissioned a modern lecture hall in Delta State Polytechnic, Ugwashi Uku, Aniocha South Local Government Area.
In his remarks during the commissioning ceremony at the polytechnic on Wednesday, the General Manager, District of NAOC, Giovanni Salvinic, represented by the Public Relation Communication and Government Laison Manager, Prince Nwachukwu Obi, said the company’s investment on education boarders on the wellingness of the company to encourage human capacity development in the operational area.
According to him,” it is our hope that this project will in no small measure, go a long way in facilitating not just the growth of education, but also strengthen and sustain the existing cordial relationship between NAOC/NNPC/BLJ/Global Energy PSC join Venture partners and the students/Management of the polytechnic,”
He urged the school authority to make good use of the project in order to attract more developmental project to the institution.
Earlier in his address, the Rector of the Polytechnic, Pastor Steve Oseafiana, commended the company for sowing the seed on manpower development, saying that NAOC is the first corporate body that has shown magnanimity to the school in this direction .
He however, appealed for assistance on the construction of a -2000-seater ultra-modern amphi-theatre, a facaulty office block, student hostels, sports complex and a functional bore –hole to-ease water problem in the institution.
The representative of Delta State Ministry of Higher Education, Mrs Ruth Isakogba who thanked Agip for the gesture, also urged other organisation to emulate. She emphasised the need to build more hostels in the school to ease the challenges of hostel accommodation.
Also speaking, the state Ministry of Environment Akpede Igho, lauded Agip for complementing the state government effort towards social responsibility, saying that more project should be sited in the area.
Agip Geosciences, representative, Adyemi Ademola, BLJ, Lucky Emekene and Global Energy, Dr Leo Okara, added their voice in acknowledging the necessity of encouraging manpower development.
The River State Commissioner for Education, Dr Peters Nwagor has called on media practitioners in Rivers State to deploy their various communication platforms toward promoting government programmes and policies aimed at achieving sustainable development in the education sector. Dr. Nwagor made the appeal when members of the Etche Ethnic Practicing Journalists (EEPJ) paid him a courtesy visit in Office in Port Harcourt. The Commissioner emphasized the strategic role of the media in shaping public perception, promoting government initiatives, and supporting policies capable of improving the quality of education and human capital development in the state. According to him, constructive media engagement remains essential in creating public awareness on educational reforms, students’ welfare, infrastructural improvements, and other interventions being implemented by the state government.
