Governance: Commissioner Woos Women
The Rivers State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs Emmanuela Izunwa, has said that all women in the state would be carried along in her ministry regardless of status.
Mrs. Izunwa said this Sunday, during her thanksgiving service at Gate Way International Church, Port Harcourt.
The commissioner said her target was to ensure that women in the state, especially those in the rural areas, had a sense of belonging in the affairs of the state.
Commenting on her reappointment, she noted that credit should be given to the wife of the Rivers State Governor, Mrs Judith Amaechi.
According to her, Mrs Amaechi claimed that she had the directives from God and was only left with the option of nominating her as commissioner for women affairs.
“I never knew that it was coming. I started by praying with the Governor’s wife, every thing came through her”, she said.
About politics, she described herself as a new comer in that regard saying that she was prepared to learn the ropes.
Earlier, the Senior Pastor of Gate Way International Church, Pastor George Izunwa, had thanked the Rivers State Government for the honour done his wife, and promised to always support the government in its plans to restore the state to its Garden City status.
