Community Moves To End Crime In Ahoada East
Hard times await criminals and drug peddlers in Okporowo-Ekpeye in Ahoada East Local Government Area of Rivers State, as the community ends a joint security meeting with the Joint Military Task Force (JTF) and the Ahoada Divisional Police Officer (DPO) over the weekend.
Speaking to The Tide shortly after the meeting the paramount ruler of Okporowo-Ekpeye Community, Chief Clifford Shika, said the meeting is geared towards checking attempts to breakdown of law and order in the area as well as mounting surveillance on drug peddlers and other social vices among the youths.
He commended the combined efforts of the Ahoada Police Division and the JTF for maintaining peace and security in the area, saying that they should not relent in their efforts to fish out those formenting trouble that could lead to the breach of law and order in Okporowo.
The community secretary, Augustine Orlu also said the meeting was fruitful and with the security arrangement on ground no criminal or mischief makers will escape the wrath of the law.
Orlu advised the people of the area to maintain peace to attract more developmental projects to the area. He thanked Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi for transforming Okporowo-Ekpeye in the area of road network, electrification of the community, contruction of primary health centre and modern primary school in the area.
In a telephone interview, the Joint Military Task Force Commander attached to Ahoada East Local Government Area, Capt. Bello, re-affirmed the preparedness of the force to track down any nefarious activity capable of posing security threat in the area, adding that JTF is on its feet to mount surveillance on the nooks and crannies of the community.
