Telecoms Giant Donates To PH Orphanage
The Mike Adenuga’s Foundation, an arm of Globacom Nigeria Limited has donated items and cash worth thousands of Naira to the Port Harcourt Children’s Home, Borokiri, Port Harcourt.
Items donated include; bags of rice, noodles beverages, baby food, Chairs and educational items.
The Head, South-South Territory Globacom Nigeria Limited, Mr. Chalres Odiase said that the gesture which is the first of its kind in Rivers State is part of the corporate social responsibility of the company to the people of Rivers State and Nigeria in general.
Odiase said that the Telecommunication giant is by the gesture reciprocating what the country has done to it.
“Dr. Mike Adenuga (Jnr) is very keen on showing his love to the less-priveleged this year. We selected this home as one of the homes to which we will bring the blessings of Globacom.
“We have come with gifts as well as the various items, to improve the quality of life of the people . This is our own way of showing love and concern during this festive priod,” he said.
He said that the company will not only continue with the programme, but effort will be made to ensure that more homes benefit from the gesture.
The Head South South Territory said that the company will continue to maintain its leading role in the Telecommunications sector, describing the over 20 million subscribers of Globacom in the country as a no mean feat.
Receiving the items on behalf of the Port Harcourt children’s Home, the matron, Mrs Barile Nwakoh thanked the company for the gesture, stressing that it will help to reduce the sufferings of the inmates.
Mrs. Nwakoh who was represented by her Assistant, Mr. Benedict Diba who assured that the gesture will be put into judicious use, also stressed the need for other companies to emulate globacom by identifying with the home.
