194 LGC Staff To Repeat Promotion Exams
All the 194 staff of the 23 Local Government Councils in Rivers State who registered for this year’s compulsory confirmation promotion examination conducted by Establishment Training and Pensions Bureau are to repeat it next year.
The directive followed the absence of the 194 staff during the closing ceremony of the exercise.
The Permanent Secretary, Establishment Training and Pension Bureau, Sir, Gift Chima Ake who disclosed this during the closing ceremony for the exercise, said that the measure was aimed at restoring law and order in the civil service and to serve as deterrent to others.
The permanent secretary said that his office would stop at nothing to collaborate with stakeholders towards the restoration of the lost glory of the civil service.
“The civil service is a serious business and all operators must put their hands on deck to make the service productive and relevant to the society at all times” he said.
He said that the course was not only for participants to pass their examination for promotion but to educate them on the need to perform their duty efficiently.
Also speaking, the Secretary of the Rivers State Local Government Service Commission, Mr Gabriel Adonye Jumbo urged civil servants to see themselves as bridges coordinating the various sectors of the economy.
He charged the clerical staff to note that they have a duty to compliment the service of their superior officers for the smooth running of the service.
In his address, the Director of Management Services and Training, Establishment Training and Pension Bureau office of the Head of Service, Mr Chinda Wali expressed the hope that, the participants are now equipped to discharge their duty with a view to improving the service.
