Ikuru Assures On Early Completion Of Unity Road
Rivers State Deputy Governor, Engr. Tele Ikuru, has assured the people of Andoni and Opobo Local Government Areas that the Ogoni/Andoni/Opobo Unity Road would soon be completed despite the setbacks experienced so far on the project.
Engr. Ikuru, who hail from Ikuru Town in Andoni Local Government Area of the State, gave this assurance on Saturady during an inspection tour of the project site.
The State Deputy Governor, who is also Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), while thanking Governor Amaechi for the road project also assured on the project’s compliance with the design specifications and physical project implementation as being consistent with engineering standards and best practice, expressing delight at the extent of work done so far.
Acknowledging that the project was faced with daunting challenges notably the difficult terrain, Engr. Ikuru insisted that the contracting firm remains “a trusted project implementer in this type of projects,” adding that the road, which is at bridge 8 on the Andoni axis, would soon be utilised by the majority of the people from the area.
Also speaking, the member representing Andoni in the State House of Assembly, Hon. Ikuinyi-Owaji Ibani, said he is happy with the project and the extent it has gone so far, asserting that “it is an answer to the needs of my people.” expressing the hope that with the pace of work the road would soon be utilisable by the people of Opobo and Andoni.
Speaking, Chairman of the Andoni LGA, Mr. Orom Nte Eroforokuma, expressed gladness at the pace of work, noting that “with the completion of the road the Andoni people will begin to appreciate and utilize the tremendous economic potentials abounding the area,” pointing out that “several investment opportunities abound in the area, including glass making, fishing, tourism and several others, waiting to be tapped”.
