Crisis Trails Panel On Ele Chieftaincy Stool
Controversy has trailed the arbitration panel set up by the people of Ele Kingdom in Ogu/Bolo Local Government Area of Rivers State. The arbitration panel was to settle the crisis rocking the Amanyanabo (Kingship) stool in the community.
Ele town is one of the nine clans that made up Okrika (Wakirike) Kingdom, in Rivers State.
Speaking recently, in a press briefing at Ele town square, the chairman of Ele Council of Chiefs, Chief Stephen Omubo, yesterday, said they totally reject the composition of the panel.
According to him, the rejection was borne out of the fact that those who were nominated do not have the capacity and moral justification to be members of the panel.
“The facts remaines that one Rev. Potter A. Iyawo, an elder brother to Fred Iyawo, was the person who assembled his friends in the guise of ministers.
“We requested to make nominations of known ministers into this panel as they claimed to be ministers of God, but this request was refused and turned down”, Omubo said.
Meanwhile, Community Development Community (CDC) in Ele said the arbitration panel was led by respected Bishops.
According to the CDC led by Abele Tubobereni, members of the panel were notable men of God.
“The arbitration team led by respected Bishops has after a thorough investigation and hearing gave their recommendations and submitted the report to court that gave the team permission to arbitrate”, said the chsirman.
