Group Plans Scholarship Scheme For N’Delta Youths
A Non-Governmental Organisation based in the Niger Delta region Oscar Social Club of Nigeria has planned a post graduate scholarship scheme for Isiokpo indigenes and other communities in the Niger Delta.
The president of the club Sir Godwin C. Madume said this during the club’s silver jubilee celebration at Isiokpo, headquarters of Ikwerre Local Government Area, Rivers State.
Sir Madume said that the club formed in 1983 by few friends who were writing their school certificate and JAMB Examination had always encouraged educational development in the state.
He also disclosed plans to assist the police in the area in maintenance of security, while youths development would be given a boost.
He listed some achievements of the club to include the purchasing of WAEC/GCE forms for deserving indigent candidates.
Also speaking, the former president of the Assocaition Mr. Wordu John said that the club needs finance to build its secretariat.
Highlight of the event was the presentation of awards to notable personalities in the state which include; Christian I. Nwankwo, Alabo Pawariso Samuel Horsfall, Chief Kevin Olocha, Elder Chidi Wihuoka and Chief Matthew Nna Aleru.
