Amadi’s Burial: Politicians Seek Unity, Violence -Free Polls
Irrespective of party lines, politicians and various party chieftains across Rivers State assembled to give their last honours to a former Chairman of the defunct National Republican Convention (NRC), Late Mr Maxwel Tasie Amadi, who was buried amidst tears in Isiokpo, the headquarters of Ikwerre Local Government Area, last Saturday.
The burial which started since January 10, 2019 with a service of songs was attended by politicians and dignitaries from various political parties including the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and All Progressives Congress (APC) in the State.
At the service of songs, former Governor of Rivers State, Dr Peter Odili urged politicians in the state to emulate the political style of late Tassie Amadi whom he described as a great politician with liberal mind to accommodate and tolerate others for peace and development to thrive in the state.
He expressed happiness that the death of the political guru had brought politicians together and urged them to shun do- or- die politics for the security and development of the state.
Odili urged politicians, especially those contesting in the 2019 general elections to play politics by the rule of the game, saying all efforts of good politicians are geared toward developments and peace in the country and state in particular.
The former Governor described late Tassie Amadi as an elder statesman who scarificed and compromised his personal interest to ensure that the state remained unified and peaceful.
