We’ll Maintain Open Door Policy, OBALGA Boss Assures
The Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Council in Rivers State, Hon Solomon Eke has reassured on the sustenance of the open door policy of his administration to facilitate inclusive governance and advance participatory democracy in the area.
Speaking to newsmen yesterday during a courtesy visit to the council by members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists Happy Hour Committee (NUJHHC), Eke stated that since inception in office, he had maintained an open door policy in order to ensure that the people of the area were well catered for.
He maintained that he was prepared for the work, stressing that his administration would continue to be open to everyone, who wish to visit the council from Monday to Friday, noting that no day was set aside for visitors in his calendar.
Eke stressed that the primary essence of occupying public offices was to serve the people and to always be ready to meet with people and other visitors that come from afar and not to restrict them to a particular day of the week.
He noted that once there was the understanding about their different challenges, one would be able to proffer some solutions in addressing the predicament of the people.
He lamented the harsh economic situation in the state and country at large, adding that his administration has evolved ways of removing traders off the road at the Rumuokoro market but complained that due to lack of fund confronting the council he has not been able to implement his plans.
He cited the traders selling on the major road as part of the challenge his administration faced since inception in office, adding that a new measure would be implemented as soon as there was available funds in order to fence the traders off the road.
