Ex-CTC Boss, Others Mourn Aguma
The former Caretaker Chairman of Ikwerre Local Government Area, Hon. Chukwumeka Bishop Best has expressed his heartfelt condolences to the family of the Agumas over the demise of their father and hero and the state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, late Emmanuel Aguma (SAN).
The former chairman, who expressed shock over the demise in a statement, last Saturday in Port Harcourt, described the late Emmanuel Aguma as a legal luminary, a true elder statesman, an icon, a friend to all and a patriotic citizen who served his state and the country at large.
He said his death was “a major blow to the state; one that will take a long time to recover from, knowing how much he has contributed to the growth of the state and the Judiciary at large.”
Bishop said ‘“Hearing his death alone sent a shock wave down my spine, for some minutes, I hoped someone will tell me it’s a lie, or perhaps, wake me up from the dream. But God knows why it happened that way, no one can question Him. We will miss him, especially his legal counsels, Rivers State has lost a true statesman. May his soul rest in perfect peace’.
The former chairman, however, prayed for God’s comfort and strength to the people he left behind, and also prayed his soul find rest in eternity.
Also reacting, the 1 Million Youth 4 NEW Rivers State said it received the news of his death as a rude shock.
In a statement, Coordinator of the group, Hon. Ehie Ogerenye Edison and his Secretary, Hon. Major Jack said, “We also extend our sympathy to the Government and people of RIVERS STATE for this great loss.
“We extend our most heartfelt sympathy to the family of the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Rivers State, late Hon. Emmanuel Chinwenwo Aguma SAN.
“We pray that God Almighty preserves the soul of the departed and comforts those in pain. Please, accept our most sincere condolences in this time of grief.
