Leadership Tussle Tears Apart Airport Taxi Operators
A battle for who leads the Port Harcourt International Airport taxi operators, otherwise known as the Accredited Car-Hire Association now rages in the association.
The Tide has reliably gathered that the embattled chairman of the association, Mr Clifford Wahunoro, has been forced to step aside on alleged failure to manage the group well.
It was gathered that the executive committee of the association, under the leadership of the embattled chairman has been forced out of office, while a care-taker committee has been put in place.
The caretaker committee, The Tide gathered, is headed by Mr Tonny Nse and has already taken over the management of the association since April ending this year.
When The Tide called on the association’s operational office at the Port Harcourt International Airport to find out the state of affairs of the group, the new caretaker chairman was not in office, but one of the officers of the association who wished to be anonymous, said that the issues are yet to be settled.
He said that the matter of leadership of the association is a subject of litigation in a competent court, adding that the caretaker committee is just to oversee the affairs of the group at the moment.
According to him, until the court matter is over, the issue of election of new executive committee would still be on hold.
Meanwhile, efforts to reach the embattled chairman, Mr Clifford Wahunoro was not successful, as he could hardly be seen within the area.
It was gathered that the court litigation matter, coupled with his new political office demand has kept him very busy outside activities at the airport.
