Monarch Reaffirms Commitment To Quality Dev

It was celebration galore, as chiefs, elders, youths as well as various women organisations and non-indigenes, rolled out their drums to give a befitting red carpet reception to their reigning King, HRH Eze Peter Ubadineke Umenta (JP), at Obete-Ndoki in Oyigbo Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The occasion, was the coronation ceremony in honour of Eze Peter Umenta, the Eze Ala Umuokobo, who ascended the throne of his ancestors in 2013 following the death of his predecessor, Eze I. O. Nwuche.
Speaking at the ceremony, Eze Peter Umenta reiterated his commitment to the overall development of the kingdom, as his brief reign as the paramount ruler of the community has recorded tangible achievements in the areas of road and bridge reconstruction, linking his kingdom to adjoining communities in Akwa-Ibom State and Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Eze Umenta, who is also the Chairman of Umuokobo Council of Traditional Rulers and Chiefs noted with satisfaction, other laudable achievements recorded in his administration which include empowerment of women and youths to be economically viable through skills acquisition and trading.
He stressed that plans are underway to engage more youths in productive ventures, adding that, they have appealed to Oyigbo CTC Chairman to assist in this direction.
The royal father, however, pointed out that, chieftaincy institution by Umuokobo institution is not hereditary from time immemorial, positing that Chiefs, Ezes, and traditional rulers in the area are elected based on merit and handwork.
Umenta added that, such positions are not given out on selfish, parochial or primordial sentiments neither is chieftaincy positions occupied by serving politicians whose impact has not been felt by their various communities in Ndoki.
While calling on the State Governor, Barrister Nyesom Wike to extend the good work he is currently doing in various communities across the State to Umuokobo Ndoki, to enable them have a sense of belonging, he used the opportunity to thank the youths of his kingdom for not indulging in violent activities as witnessed in most other communities in the State.
The event attracted dignitaries from all walks of life, who paid glowing tributes to the Monarch in his palace, especially for his peaceful reign as the one and only authentic natural ruler of the land.
