Police Rescue Kidnapped UNIPORT Lecturer
The kidnapped lecturer with the university of Port Harcourt, Dr Glory Amadi has been rescued by the anti-kidnapping team of the Rivers State police command.
Dr Amadi who was last Friday abducted by four unidentified gunmen was freed on Monday, following swift action by men of the police anti-kidnapping team and other detectives.
The Tide gathered that aggressive search of the surrounding creek and bushes was maintained for two days which eventually forced the kidnappers to quickly abandon their victim and escape into the bush.
It was further gathered that the victim’s Honda Element Jeep with Reg No TZ 809KJA was also recovered around the area.
It would be recalled that the lecturer in the faculty of Humanities, University of Port Harcourt, Dr Glory Amadi was on Friday night abducted from his home in Rumuokwarshi in Obi/Akpor local government area of Rivers State, by four heavily armed men.
According to a reliable source, the four men arrived the lecturer’s residence in his absence, tied up his wife and children and locked them in one of the rooms, and then awaited the arrival of their victim, who was said to be in a nearby church.
On arrival at his house, Dr Amadi was bundled and pushed into his jeep with which the hoodlums drove off. The hoodlums later abandoned the jeep in a nearby village and disappeared with their victim to an unknown destination.
The police public Relation officer (PPRO) Dr Rita Inoma-Abbey who confirmed the rescue of the victim expressed gratitude to God for giving the ability to rescue the lecturer.
She maintained that efforts are still been sustained to ensure that the culprits are arrested.
