‘Aviation Contributes $1bn To Nigeria’s Economy’
The Managing
Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Engr. Saleh Dunoma, has said that the aviation industry contributes over $1 billion to the Nigerian economy annually.
He said the sector was also supporting more than 150,000 jobs in Nigeria, and thus, creating immense business opportunities for both local and foreign investors.
Dunoma, who disclosed this to newsmen in Abuja during an interaction explained that FAAN has adopted the system of partnering with the private sector, inspite of the decision of the Federal Government to concession airport facilities.
According to him, the strategy has become inevitable, given the large number of international airlines that now operate into the country.
He said “FAAN offers an anal of irresistible incentives and doing business with us has become a lot easier.
“We are investing heavily in the renewals and expansion of infrastructure of our airports, especially the international airports”, he added.
The FAAN boss maintained that the aim is to create capacity and promote excellence in vestment environment, adding that with tourism growing in divert proportion to the Nigeria economy, and good policies in place, FAAN is poised for a significant growth in passenger traffic.
He also expressed confidence that investors, both local and foreign, would realize prompt and significant return on their investments, when all these things are put in place.
