Dana Airline Debunks Crash Allegation
The Dana Airline has
said that the information and pictures posted on social media last Sunday was not only false, but a calculated attempt by mischief makers to tarnish the image of the airline.
It said that such information was the imagination of mischief makers, without any iota of truth in it, and wondered how people can came up with such deceit.
Speaking while interacting with The Tide on the allegation, at the Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa, on Tuesday, the station manager of the airline, Francis Ofangba, said that they could not tell what was the motive behind that false information, or what the originators intend to achieve.
According to the station manager, the three air craft Dana operates were all on ground as at that Sunday when the false hood was posted in the social media, explaining that two of the aircraft, were on ground in Lagos, which the other one was on ground in Uyo.
Ofangba said that those who peddled the rumour went and down loaded the old photograph of the incident that happened to Dana Airline some years ago, and changed the date as well as repackaged it to deceive the people.
“We were all surprised an Sunday when some mischief makers went to social media, using the old incident, edited and updated it.
“There is no iota of truth in it, and that is the imagination of mischief makers and our media department instantly released a statement to that effect, and we can not tell their motives”, he said.
The Dana station manager, however, explained that the management of the airline had begun to do a thorough investigation on the originator of the pictures and the source of such information.
He also said that the Dana Airline was doing its best as well as doing well in its operations, pointing out that the airline at the moment, is the only airline that has been keeping to the time of schedule on movement. Ofangba also told The Tide that Dana Airline was two weeks ago given a certification of the International Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) which is a branch of the International Air Transport Association (IATA).

Aviation Professionals Want Agencies Boards’ Inauguration
As a measure to curb corruption and restore accountability, the Association of Nigeria Aviation Professionals (ANAP), has called on the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, to push for the urgent formation and inauguration of governing boards for all other aviation agencies.
ANAP’s Secretary General, AbdulRasaq Saidu, made this call at the weekend when interacting with aviation correspondents, in reaction to recent inauguration of Board of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).
Keyamo had recently inaugurated the FAAN board, more than six months after its members were appointed by President Bola Tinubu, where Dr. Umar Ganduje was named Board Chairman, with FAAN’s Managing Director, Olubunmi Kuku, as the Vice Chairman.
Other board members include representatives from the Ministries of Justice, Defence, Tourism, and Aviation, as well as professionals from the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology, and FAAN’s legal department.
The ANAP scribe there urged the aviation Minister not to stop at FAAN but to ensure that all aviation parastatals are given functional boards to restore order and credibility to the sector.
He, however, commended Keyamo for recently inaugurating the board of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria but stressed that more needed to be done.
Saidu also warned that the continued delay in constituting boards for other aviation agencies creates room for unchecked abuses, including illegal contracts, fraudulent employment practices, and mismanagement.
“The absence of governing boards violates the enabling Acts that established these agencies. Only properly constituted boards can enforce discipline, ensure due process in decision-making, and provide oversight to prevent corruption”, Saidu said.
He emphasised that the aviation unions, including ANAP, have consistently raised concerns about poor governance and lack of transparency within the aviation system.
He called on President Bola Tinubu to act swiftly by appointing board members for all relevant agencies, in the interest of fairness and aviation safety.
Saidu also tackled the former Minister of Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika, for failing to inaugurate any boards during his eight-year tenure, despite appointments being made by former President Muhammadu Buhari.
“ANAP raised the alarm several times under Sirika’s leadership, but nothing changed. That lapse has continued under the current administration, and it must be addressed now”, Saidu stated.
