Be Submissive To Each Other, Wike Urges Couples
The Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, has urged couples to be submissive to each other and key into God’s covenant concerning the marriage institution.
Wike made the remark today while speaking at the solemnization of Holy Matrimony between Uchendah Becky Enyindah and Samuel Tekena Iwo, son of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Religious Matters, Bishop Winston Iwo, at Grace Covenant Ministries along East-West Road, Port Harcourt.
The governor, who was represented at the wedding by his Deputy, Dr Ipalibo Harry Banigo said it is only when couples surrender themselves to each other and respect their views and feelings as well as build their marriage on God’s foundation that they will receive his blessings.
The governor advised Mr. Samuel Tekena Iwo and his wife, Uchendah, to see their marriage as the beginning of their life time journey, and expressed the hope that they would contribute positively to the development of the society.
Wike, who admonished the parents of the couple to play positive roles in their lives congratulated Mr & Mrs Samuel Tekena Iwo on their successful marriage, and prayed God to bless and sustain them through his abundant grace.
He used the occasion to re-commit the resolve of his administration to continue to provide social services for the people of the state in fulfilment of God’s mandate.
In his speech while joining the couple together, the Officiating Minister, Bishop Williams Daka enjoined Mr & Mrs Samuel Tekena Iwo to be challenged by the presence of dignities who came from various works of life to witness their wedding.
Daka also advised the couple to love and cherish each other and allow God to take the centre stage of their marriage and all their undertakings in life.
