NOTAP To Explore Youth Potential In Science, Tech
The National Office for
Technology Acquisition and Promotion (NOTAP) has expressed its determination to explore and develop the Nigeria Youths Potentials in Science and Technology.
This was disclosed in Abuja recently by the Director General of NOTAP, Dr Danazumi Ibrahim while speaking with newsmen on African Day for Technology and Intellectual Property (ADTIP).
Ibrahim said that there is need to create the right investment through technical knowledge of science and technology in the country.
He said that NOTAP is a parastatal under the Federal Ministry Science and Technology and saddled with the commemoration of African Day for Technology and Intellectual Property to demonstrate the value which the country and other African nations place on science technology and innovation as panacea for national development.
He explained that the commemoration of African day every September 13 is to arouse the latent creativity and inventive spirit of researchers, entrepreneurs inventors and innovators being one of the ways through which rapid development of a nation could be achieved.
He explained that the resolution to be commemorating the day was to further sensitise and facilitate the domestication of technology and development of the Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) System in Africa and reawaken the creative ability of the people to eradicate poverty and drive sustainable development of the nation.
However, the DG, NOTAP stated that this year’s NOTAP commemoration was shifted to next year considering the fact that schools were still on holiday throughout the country since Secondary Schools normally showcase their invention.
He said that the agency would continue to foster technological development of the nation in partnership with other key stakeholders in various science and technology fields.
