ICAO Audit: Stakeholders Laud FAAN
Stakeholders in the
aviation industry have lauded the effors made by the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) in making it possible for the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) pull through the Universal Safety Oversight Audit Programme (USOAP).
The stakeholders observed and applauded the specific efforts made by FAAN’s Managing Director, Engineer Saleh Dunoma for making the ICAO audit possible, describing him as a seasoned aviation export who had committed all his working life to the industry.
Commenting on the pass mark given to FAAN and the industry, the President, of Air Transport Service Senior Staff (ATSSAN), Benjamin Okewu, said the agency merited the approval given it by the ICAO.
“AS a seasoned aviator who had spent all his working life committed to the agency and as the man who repositioned aviation security and was the Director of Operations that supervised the remodeling programme, which transformed the nation’s airport facilities, Dunoma took the challenge of closing the gaps earlier identified by ICAO with the deadline very close to the audit date.
“It will be noted that before the audit team arrived, FAAN was able to meet the expectation of the world’s aviation body,” ATSSAN boss stated.
Okewu noted that initially, there were open items, but a lot of work was done by FAAN and all those problems were addressed, and remarked that the agency had embarked on training of personnel, which according to him is not conclusive but open-ended.
He said that aviation security personnel have been properly trained and that they know their job and attributed this to Dunoma’s immense experience in the area of safety and aviation security.
