Ex-NASS Member Laments Economic Toll On Air Passengers
A former Senator
representing Bayelsa State at the Seventh National Assembly, Senator John Brambaifa, has said that the present economic challenges in the country have reduced the ability of air travellers to fly the business class.
He said that if this trend continues passengers will resort to fling the economy class, so as to make judicious use of their resources.
Making this known while speaking to airport correspondents at the Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa on Tuesday, Brambaifa noted that people are more conscious now, and that nobody will like to spend his scarce resources to fly the business class.
Narrating his experience on the flight he boarded to Port Harcourt, the former lawmaker explained that he was the only one that sat at the business class on that journey, adding that he will likely join the economy class if things continues this way.
He, however, urged Nigerians to be patient and give time for the present administration to fix things, adding that the economy can not improve over night.
“We have never seen this kind of economic situation in Nigeria before, as well as the level of crime. It is affecting every facet of life, and this high level of crime in Nigeria is because of bad economy, and kidnapping is mre now in the North, than even in the Niger Delta,” he stated.
On the political front, the ex-lawmaker noted that the inconclusive elections by the INEC is a process of democracy, pointing that if there are irregularities in elections, such can be declared inconclusive, which will affect all political parties.
He said that INEC is growing, as they think about new things and changing old policies, and wanting a review of the Act that established INEC.
