Jos Airport Moves To Increase Air Fleet
The Yakubu Gowon Airport, Jos, has said that every efforts is being made to increase the number of airline operations at the airport.
Making this known in an interview with newsmen in Jos, recently, the airport Manager, Mr Ayinla Gbolahan, said that he has began negotiation with Overland Airways.
He said that if his negotiation with the air operator stands, the number of fleets will increase, adding that the limited number of fleet at the Jos Airport gives him concern.
“I believe very soon, we will have another airline to complement Arik Air in Jos Airport. I have been having positive discussion with Captain Boyo of Overland Airways”, Gbolahan stated.
He said under his watch, some efforts have been made to put things in order at the airport, especially in the area of grass management.
“So far, we have been able to service all the tractors, put them in good shape and cut the grasses in both the airside and landside”.
“I discovered that the makeshift passenger processing hall did not measure up to standard, compared to what passengers are paying as airport tax, and thought we should change it to make it comfortable and decent”, he said. According to him, the major challenges that they face are that of the old equipment such as vehicles (including tractors) as well as funds that are not enough to carter for the numerous demands,
He, however, thanked the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of FAAN for the encouragement and the supports they have received when the need arises.
