Banigo Tasks Youth On Profitable Ventures
Rivers State Deputy
Governor Dr (Mrs) Ipalibo Harry Banigo has urged youths to channel their energies towards realising their potentials in life in order to impact positively on their lives and the society.
Dr. Banigo stated this at the flag-off of a one month Skills Acquisition Programme for Youths, powered by her Foundation, the Caywood Brown Foundation in Port Harcourt.
The Deputy Governor who was represented by her Senior Special Assistant General, Barr. Inne Gogo Fubara said over 100 Persons would benefit from the programme which was born out of her passion for improving the lives of youths and women in the state by engaging them in profitable ventures.
She stressed the urgent need for youth to be engaged in various skills acquisition and vocational trainings as a means of wealth creation to reduce the high rate of unemployment among youths which had exposed them to crime and criminality.
The Deputy Governor urged youth to see themselves as an integral part of societal development and shun all acts of criminality, enjoining participants at the programme to make good use of the opportunity to better their lives.
Earlier, the Manager of Caywood Foundation, Mr Onyekachi Chukwuemeka said participants would be trained in Cinematography, Editing, Video Coverage, Electrical Installation, Website Designing, Printing Technology, Decoration as well as Event Planning and Management.
He disclosed that the Foundation was partnering with Union Bank in order to secure soft loans for beneficiaries of the training programme to enable them start small-scale businesses on their own, while lauding the effort of the Deputy Governor for being a friend of the youth.
Some participants who spoke at the event commended the Rivers State Deputy Governor, Dr Ipalibo Harry Banigo for the opportunity offered them and promised to make good use of the free gesture.
