‘We’re Disappointed By Rivers Rerun Polls’ Postponement’
The Peoples Democratic
Party (PDP) candidate for Rivers South East Senatorial District, Olaka Nwogu, has expressed disappointment at the postponement of the rerun elections by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Nwogu, who spoke in Eleme, headquarters of Eleme Local Government Area, said the people of the area were unhappy with the postponement of the rerun elections at the instance of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He further appealed to INEC to ensure that the rerun elections are not extended beyond two weeks.
Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)-led government of Rivers State says it is going ahead with its campaign rallies across the state despite the postponement of the rerun elections by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The Deputy Governor, Dr Ipalibo Harry Banigo, in a statement called on the people of the state to always come out en-masse to give PDP candidates’ campaign trains a rousing welcome at each stop.
A statement signed by the Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, Paul Damgbor, said that sustaining the momentum would further galvanise and mobilise the people at the grassroots to cast their votes for PDP candidates at the shortest possible notice.
She said that keeping the campaign train running will ensure that the party is in constant touch with the people at all levels, and boost the party’s strategy and chances of winning all legislative seats at the state and national levels.
