Monarch Hails Wike’s Peace Initiative
The traditional ruler of
Egi clan, Professor Anele Uzondu Nwokoma, has commended the peace initiative of the state governor, Chief Nyesom Wike and called on all traditional rulers to support his efforts.
Professsor Nwokoma who was addressing eminent citizens of Egi clan, in his palace at Erema, in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni, said Governor Wike within his one year of piloting Rivers State had recorded giant strides and should be encouraged by the people.
“All those in a position to talk to the restive youths, should not shy away from that duty because of party differences, because if the state is peaceful, it would be glory of all of us”.
He urged the Governor not to be deterred by the antics of detractors but remain focused and continue with his good works.
The Egi Monarch, appealed to both foreign and local investors to take advantage of the abundant natural resources in Egi by coming to invest in the land.
He used the opportunity to call on all the indigenes of the area who had run away in the heat of crises to return home, so that the process of reintegration and efforts made to achieve lasting peace would take normal course.
Also speaking, Dr Ifeanyi Obulor, a political scientist noted that Egi produces about 30 percent of Rivers Oil revenue, and urged the people to live in unity to reap the benefits of their contribution to the state and national treasury.
In his speech, the Chairman of Egi Clan Council of Chiefs, Chief Shedrack Orikoha pledged the support of the people to the monarch.
