This is contained in a statement signed by the Programme Manager of the organisation, Ms. Chinenye Udeh, and made available to newsmen in Abuja on Wednesday.
SAGE’s mission is to help create the next generation of entrepreneurial leaders whose innovations and social enterprises address the major unmet needs of the global community.
The Tide also reports that SAGE engages young people in a hands-on learning process on how to create wealth and help others and their communities.
According to the statement, the MoU is signed with the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN).
It said the programme was tagged: “National School Entrepreneurship Programme (NSEP) to provide access to functional and hands-on entrepreneurship and community service education to every primary and secondary school students in Nigeria.
It stated that the programme would help eliminate poverty, conflicts and massive youth unemployment.
The statement said that the programme would also create a network of leaders who would see the challenges in their communities as their responsibilities.
“260,000 pupils will be directly impacted in the first year as they create over 2,600 micro businesses and community service projects.
“Over 5000 teachers will be trained on how to deliver hands-on entrepreneurship and community service education to students in primary and secondary schools.”
It quoted the SMEDAN Director General, Dr Dikko Radda as saying: “ NSEP is set to facilitate the culture of entrepreneurship and stimulate students toward job creation rather than job seeking as they create micro businesses in their various communities.”
The statement also quoted the SAGE Africa President, Mr Agwu Amogu as saying: “NSEP will help to identify potential of young people early enough and help them develop it.
“It will channel the energy of youths to positive and productive ends as they are prepared for the challenges of business leadership and civic responsiveness.
