Promote Christian Heritage, Fathers Told
Christian Fathers in
Nigerian have been charged to be tireless in handing down a heritage of faith in Christ’s birth, crucifixion, resurrection and life everlasting to their children.
They have also been encouraged to give service, show compassion and be good examples to other Christians.
The Vicar of the Church of All Saints, Christ Healing Church of Nigeria, Rev Canon Michael D.P.C Brown gave the charge in a Sermon to mark the Father’s Day celebration at the church.
Taking his text from the Bible book of Revelation 6:1-7, the preacher stated that God has created men to be leaders of families, assuring them of His provision to enable them discharge their parental and Christian duties.
In his prayers for the fathers, Archbishop of Christ Heading Church of Nigeria, Benjamin Obomanu commended the fathers for their various contributions in making the celebration unique and prayed for provision, good health and the heart desires of various families represented by the fathers.
The Men Christian Association Chairman, Sir Brice I. Ekela in his speech thanked God for his enablement for the men to make the event successful.
Highlights of the celebration were choral rendition by men and presentation of gift to the fathers by members of the Women Christian Association of the church.
Meanwhile, Archbishop Benjamin Obomanu has appointed a nine-member committee for the 2016 Harvest celebration of the church.
Headed by Chief Kingsley Akaninwo, the committee also includes the Vicar of the church, Rev. Canon Michael D. P. C. Brown, Sir Donald Mike-Jaja, Brother Eric Apiafi and Brother Idah Apiafi.
The rest are Sister Sylverline Wami, Sister Gloria Ogolo, Sister Beauty Chukwu and Sister Charity Dappa.
