RSG Vows To Ensure Accountability in LGs
The Rivers State Government has vowed to continue with its campaign for transparency and accountability in the local government areas.
The Commissioner for Agriculture, Mr. Emmanuel Chindah, who disclosed this at a mid term review meeting for the International Funds for Agricultural Development of Nigeria/Niger Delta Development Commission, Community Based Natural Resource Management Programme (CBNRMP) in Port Harcourt also said that the present administration has never tampered with councils funds since its inception three years ago.
He noted that the state government has taken over the payment of teachers salaries and other entitlements.
The commissioner also charged the organisation to give special attention to the agricultural sector stressing that abundant food should be produce to feed the people of the Niger Delta region.
Also speaking, the International Funds for Agricultural Development (IFAD) country programme manager, Mr. Abdul Barry said that agriculture will now be the focal point of the programme.
