TUC Urges Workers To Obey Govt’s Policy
The Trade Union
Congress of Nigeria (TUC), Rivers State chapter, has urged public service workers in the state to cooperate with the state government on policy directive to ensure effective industrial relations in the state.
Speaking to The Tide in Port Harcourt on Friday, the State Chairman of the union, Comrade Chika Onuegbu, said the cooperation was necessary to ensure proper policies implementation for the overall development of the state.
Onuegbu said the recent directive by the state government on the submission of Bank Verification Number (BVN) before February salary payment was a step in the right direction by the government in its effort to identify ghost workers in the service of the state government.
He charged every worker and union to support every genuine efforts aimed at identifying ghost workers.
The TUC boss enjoined the state government to collaborate with the unions for the successful and smooth implementation of the exercise.
Onuegbu also appealed to the state government to ensure that the exercise is not used to victimise, the workers or the union leadership in the state.
