Okowa Calls For Amendment Of Appropriation Law
Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta has sent a bill to amend the 2015 Appropriation Law to the State House of Assembly for consideration.
The bill, which is contained in a letter, was read by the Speaker Mr Monday Igbuya, during plenary in Asaba.
Okowa noted that the 2015 appropriation law, passed by the immediate past administration, was no longer realistic due to the current economic situation of the country.
He therefore appealed to the legislators to give the bill expeditious consideration and pass it into law to enable the executive implement the budget for the benefit of the people of the state.
Okowa also sent the names of the second batch of five nominees for appointment as commissioners to the legislators for screening and confirmation.
The names of the nominees were contained in a letter read by the Speaker during plenary.
The nominees are: Mr Peter Mrakpor, Dr Nicholas Azinge, Mr Ernest Ogwezzy, Mr Bright Edejewhro and Mr Oghenekaro Ilolo.
The Speaker directed them to appear before the Assembly for screening on September 15.
Also at plenary, the House screened and confirmed the appointment of the first batch of eight commissioner nominees whose names the governor had earlier forwarded to the House on August 25.
The nominees are: Mr Mofe Pirah, Mr Asupa Forteta, Chief Dan Okenyi, Mr Chika Ossai, Chief David Edevbie, Mr Henry Sakpra, Mr Jude Senebe and Mr Patrick Ukah.
