Assembly Tasks School Proprietors On Quality Education
The Chairman, House
Committee on Education, in Cross River State House of Assembly, Dr Itam Abang, has appealed to private schools proprietors to enhance the quality of teaching in their schools.
Abang made the call when he received the leadership of the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS), Cross River Chapter, in her office in Calabar yesterday.
She called on the proprietors to develop new teaching skills to bring out the best in the pupils and students.
According to her, children are the leaders of tomorrow, hence the need to set a fundamental educational background for them to excel in their educational pursuits.
“As proprietors of private schools, you are expected to employ the services of qualified teachers in your respective schools to ensure quality teaching and learning.
“The role of a teacher in the society cannot be over emphasised. Teachers play vital role in the upbringing of a child and I urge you to keep up the good work,’’ she said.
The President of NAPPS, Mr Mike Egre, said that the leadership of the association visited the lawmaker to discuss issues bothering the association in the state.
He expressed the readiness of the association to partner with the assembly on plans that would enhance the standard of education in the state.
The other members of NAPPS, who spoke during the visit, thanked the lawmaker for identifying with the association.
They promised to improve the standard of teaching and learning in their respective schools.
