A statement issued by the NCC Director, Public Affairs Tony Ojobo obtained by The Tide on Monday said the stakeholders outreach programme is being organised by the Commission’s Consumer Affairs Bureau in Enugu State capital at Nondon International Hotel, Enugu.
Ojobo said the stakeholders forum would address consumers agitation on issues bordering on cost of calls, terminated calls while talking, difficulty encountered, while recharging by consumers, benefit of broadband, safety of masts and towers of service providers among other issues.
He said the theme of the discussion will be “Effective Service Delivery; The Right of the Telecoms Consumer” stressing that the stakeholders forum was necessitated by the flood of complaints by consumers as well as the commission determination to address such complaints by consumers of telecoms services.
The Director, Public Affairs of the Commission said the commission will stringently pursue its watchdog functions of protecting, informing and educating consumers of Telecoms facilities, stressing that telecoms service providers such as MTN, Globacom, Etisalat, Airtel, Visafone and the Telecoms Consumers Advocacy Group in the South East will be all represented at the forum.
He further emphasised that all stakeholders, government functionaries, marketers and repairers of telecoms facilities including the organised labour representatives and the general public are expected to attend the stakeholders forum with the view of enhancing the telecoms facilities and operations in the country.
