e-Learning System: RSUST Vows To Maintain Lead
The Rivers State
University of Science and Technology (RSUST), says it will continue its lead in Information and Communication Technology (ICT), in order to maintain its current position in the e-learning system.
This was contained in a new letter from the office of the Public Relations Officer, RSUST, Mr. Desmond Wosu, to newsmen in Port Harcourt, Thursday.
According to the news letter, the University now runs an e-senate devoid of papers with biometric accreditation of members of senate for recording purposes.
It also listed the institution as one of the largest ICT centres which houses over 1000 work stations and other ICT tools.
According to the statement, the school has an Information Technology Academy (ITA) which has a running partnership with Microsoft Cisco and Intel, saying it is the largest IT Academy among universities in the country.
The Tide, gathered that such partnership, has given rise to others, like Samsung, PKO and HP, hinting that Mircosoft and Cinfores limited have launched a Computer for All Programme (CAP) in the school.
It also revealed that equipment hall, an IT home, corroborated its claims of being the first university in the country to acquire the multiboards.
On hostel allocation, it stated that it is being done online, where students are treated on first-come-first-served basis.
It further stressed that the introduction of the e-system has reduced to the barest minimum all forms of examination malpractice as almost all its exams are done electronically.
Concerning staff and students records, it added that it is now fully digitalised, traceable and safe with the aid of powerful electronic backup.
