APC Presents Flags To LG Chairmanship Candidates
The All Progressives
Congress (APC) in Rivers State has presented flags to 21 out of the 22 chairmanship candidates of the party for this Saturday’s local government election in the state.
Those presented with flags include Alpheaus Imie Benson for Andoni, Reginald Ukwuoma for Etche, Chimbiko Akarolo for Port Harcourt City and Bestman Amadi for Ikwerre local government area.
Others were Hon (Mrs.) Felicia Barizazi for Tai, Obi N. Samuel for Okrika, Jaja Loveday for Opobo/Nkoro and Donatus Badom for Gokana.
The rest were Oluo Anthony Chidi-Omuma, Nathaniel Iringera for Ogu/Bolo, Omuso G. Abbey for Bonny and Eli Sogbeye for Degema Local Government Area.
Benebo Stanley for Akuku Toru, Fred Vincent Horsfall for Asari-Toru, Samuel Eyiba for Ahoada West, Augustine Ngo for Abua/Odual, Sule Adabo for Ahoada East, Fyneman Olungwe for Eleme, Lucky Ugochukwu Worluh for Emohua Celestin Akpobari for Khana and Nnanta G. Weli for Obio/Akpor local government area were also given the chairmanship flag of the party.
Nobody was presented with a flag for Oyigbo as the primary was inconclusive.
Meanwhile the governorship candidate of APC in the last election in the state, Dr. Dakuku Adol Peterside has charged the chairmanship candidates of the party to run a violence-free campaign in their various local government areas.
Peterside who spoke during the presentation of flags to the candidates said that their campaigns must be issue-based saying that the APC cannot be associated with irresponsible leaders.
He also charged them not to see themselves as winners, adding that they must extend hands of fellowship to their opponents at the primaries even as he thanked them for their continuous support to the cause of the APC in the state.
Also speaking, the Senator representing Rivers South East in the National Assembly, Senator Magnus Abe assured them that the APC will reclaim its stolen mandate in the state.
“What happened in Rivers State was not an election by God’s grace, there will be elections in Rivers State, where people will vote for governor of their choice and members of National Assembly,” he said.
