Sara-Igbe Blames PDP Loss On Lack Of Internal Democracy
The Special Adviser on
Security to former governor Peter Odili of Rivers State, Chief Anabs Sara-Igbe, says the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lost the 2015 general elections due to violation of internal democracy.
Sara-Igbe, who was a security expert told newsmen in Port Harcourt that the party disregarded warnings to stop imposition of candidates during its primary elections.
He said internal democracy operated on due process, fair play, equity and good conscience in the sharing of political and economic power.
According to Sara-Igbe, the managers of the party allowed greed, nepotism and outright inordinate ambition to affect its fortunes.
“The leadership of PDP was unconcerned about obvious irregularities that characterised the party’s primaries that led to its shameful and disgraceful defeat.
“You cannot circumvent rules and acts that are indeed inimical to the enthronement democracy and sustenance of internal and have party cohesion for victory,” he said.
Sara-Igbe said the questionable manner with which candidates of the party emerged showed that the leadership was not serious.
He described the ugly interplay of party intrigues, power display, culture of impunity and disregard for fair play and internal democracy as most unfortunate.
