Why Nigeria Needs Prayers
I know quite well that
there are many political parties in Nigeria whose candidates or members are aspiring for one political position or the other. As political parties whose ideology is positive and optimistic, power and leadership will come their way some day. That is why they are working tirelessly towards seeing that the aim is achieved. Years past, the leadership of this country has been from one political party but despite the rivalry then, we are still leaving in insecurity in the country.
Nigeria is a country that is blessed by God Almighty with different natural resources that are capable of blessing and satisfying the needs of its citizens.
The poltical rivalry between the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is so alarming that most people afraid of the future.
Sometimes I think if there are no other parties in the state or country. Why I think so is because of the dominance of the two major political parties. Their existence has silenced the others.
It is said that politics is a dirty game where you disagree to agree and temporarily disagree and later agree. But the one I am seeing now is getting worse and might be terrible, if we don’t seek God’s intervention.
It has also gotten to the extent that most people now go beyond political matters and go into pettiness. This has resulted into real crisis which has led to shootings, killings and mammies .
I am using this medium to encourage both the leaders and the masses to understand that we are one. We are brothers and sisters from the same country, seeking and praying to God to help us to stand firm do what seems right in the country, bearing in mind that united we stand but divided we fall.
As is usual, it is natural for political parties or even politicians to disagree. This happens with the intention that they will agree later. Politicians must realize that Nigeria must come first. If there is no Nigeria there won’t be politics.
I am not surprised seeing these happenings because I strongly believe in what is recorded in the book of Matthew; 24 from 3-7, which already mentions the signs of the end time. That portion of scripture says: “For kingdom will rise against kingdom”. As a child of God, I seek the face of God to wipe these tears from our eyes by not letting this prophecy to be fulfilled in Nigeria by this time, when we need God’s face more.
This is the time Nigerians need to stand up and pray to God Almighty to quench whatever fire this forthcoming election and government will bring to the country.
As an undergraduate of Federal Polytechnic Nekede, a good and law-abiding citizen of Nigeria, I know there are uncountable number of Nigerians who are graduates, some of them with their masters degree looking for jobs since they graduated from school but to no avail.
That is why Nigeria needs a better government that will wipe the tears of poverty and joblessness away from our eyes. It is said that youth are the leaders of tomorrow. How can this statement come to fulfillment if the country remains the way it is? We need the mercy of God. There is a nation where youths roam about jobless and in tears. Fathers and mothers have equally given up on the situation.
One thing is for sure. God knows the best. If the candidates of the All Progressives Congress will bring unit and peace and wipe the tears of the youth from being jobless, let them emerge victorious. If it is also the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party that will do the same, let them also emerge but at the end of the day, let the process that will produce the next government be free so that we all will be happy and expect better governance.
What I don’t want is crisis. The civil war as we were told wasted lots of lives and properties. Until now, the effects of that war have not been remedied.
The Bible says: “when the righteous rule, the people rejoice but when the wicked rule the people perish”. God will help to choose credible leaders by putting his spirit in us as we vote in 2015 polls. As we hope for that, I also want to use this medium to encourage the youths of the country to resist from being used as instruments for violence as we wait the elections on March 28th and April 11th respectively. We must say ‘no’ to violence.
