God, Who Brought Me To Office Is Also Keeping Me, Says Fubara
Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, says it is God that is upholding his administration and he will not disappoint the people of Rivers State God has charged him to watch over.
Speaking as Special Guest during the 100 years centenary celebration of the First African Church Mission, Holy Trinity Cathedral in Old Port Harcourt Township, yesterday, Governor Fubara admitted that as an ardent believer in Christ and Knight of the Church of Nigeria, he would remain focused to provide dedicated good services to Rivers people..
The Governor, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Tammy Danagogo, said, “I congratulate you for 100 years of contributing to the development of Rivers State; and serving and working for the body of Christ.
“As a knight and ardent believer in Christ, I truly appreciate your efforts in the spiritual, moral and physical growth and development of the state. We are aware that what is sustaining this government is the grace and power of God. I am conscious of the fact that it is the grace of God that first brought me to office and also keeping me. That is why I am looking onto God to do what he has sent me to do in Rivers State,” he noted.
He stressed that most of the agitations by the former LGA chairmen, the former House of Assembly members and their cronies are mere detractors work aimed at distracting him.
“We are aware of these attempts to make us lose focus so when 2027 comes, they would say, what has he achieved?
“But I am focused on God and focused to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people of Rivers. I am focused to ensure the cardinal goals of this administration within the next four years are achieved – in education, healthcare, agriculture, housing and infrastructural development”, he maintained.
The Governor noted that he will not spent the people’s resources to over celebrate the evidence of works done but rather will allow the people observe and testify of the quiet revolution of development in state.
“Only on Friday, we flagged off the smart Port City in Eleme LGA to resuscitate the Garden City effect in other parts of the state as well as the TAF City under construction at the corridors of the international airport. I assure you that in addition to developments in health care, education, agriculture, infrastructure and others, we will develop new cities that benefit all Rivers people.
“Our request from you is to keep praying for the Governor, the government and the state. We know that it is the prayer of the faithful that is sustaining the government and we will not be tired as you keep praying. The mandate given to us will be used judiciously.
The Governor supported the celebration with a token of ¦ 30 million for the construction of support offices by the Church.
The Primate of the First African Church Mission, His Eminence, Most Rev. Sunday Matilukuro, speaking from a sermon titled, ‘A New Song’, said God is always ready to do new things in the lives of His children, adding that whenever a new thing happens in the life of man, a new song often emerges.
He admonished the Church to contribute their innovative ideas as well as step up their commitment and dedication as a foundation to be remembered like the founding fathers who laid a legacy for everyone to enjoy now.
“The founding fathers Rev. G. A. Oke, Bro. Fenibo Brown and Bro Stephen Ugoji Jaja, played prominent roles in 1923/1924 which culminated into the founding of this place, then UNA Holy Trinity Parish. The three of them have gone to be with the Lord, many others built upon the foundation they laid, that is why you and I are here today to celebrate the end of a century and to thank God for seeing us to the beginning of another century. What are you going to contribute to ensure the church grows more and more in the second century?”, he asked.
Speaking to the Governor, he admonished him to remain bold and courageous and keep doing the will of God.
“Joshua 1:3-8, says, be bold and courageous. Keep doing the will of God. Rule with the fear of God, you will surmount all the obstacles ahead of you. All the mountains standing on his way, God will destroy them. Be bold and courageous. It is God that takes one to the top and brings another down. This is a new beginning”, he emphasized.

Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has demanded quick and full resolution to the challenges arising from the gas leakage that occurred in Bille, Degema Local Government Area of the State.
The governor has also pledged to upgrade the Primary Healthcare Centre (PHC) in Bille with a view to addressing the health challenges confronting the community.
Fubara made the pledge on Wednesday at the Government House, Port Harcourt during an enlarged meeting of key stakeholders, comprising representatives of the Federal Government, the state government and leaders of the community.
The meeting was held to review the situation in the community and explore available opportunities to save the people from the adverse impacts of environmental pollution.
Addressing the journalists at the end of the meeting, the governor acknowledged the determination of the Federal Government and its agencies to get to the root cause of the problem in Bille and ensure that it is resolved permanently.
“The meeting is in respect of the situation in Bille. You’re aware that there is a case of gas leakage somewhere in Bille and the people have been making some requests that the government should come to their rescue to resolve the situation.
“As a state, we have gone to see the situation in the community, not alone but in conjunction with the industry operators and officials of the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources. “The safety of the people is paramount. We can understand their anxiety, the worry and the danger that this thing poses within the area, but the Federal Government is committed to finding a lasting solution to the problem. Tinubu Unveils Training Programme For 5,000 Metre Installers
President Bola Tinubu has announced the launch of a training programme for 5,000 young Nigerians as meter installers and technicians under the Presidential Metering Initiative.
The President stated that the scheme is aimed at creating jobs, closing the country’s metering gap and improving electricity supply.
The President disclosed this in a statement on his verified X handle yesterday, describing the initiative, tagged “The Power Force,” as part of his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda to expand employment opportunities for young people.
According to Tinubu, the programme will equip participants with practical technical skills and connect them to employment opportunities in Nigeria’s power sector.
“Through the Presidential Metering Initiative (PMI), which I established to close Nigeria’s metering gap, end estimated billing, protect consumers and strengthen the electricity market, we are opening a new pathway for 5,000 young Nigerians to be trained as meter installers and technicians under The Power Force. This programme is about jobs, skills and dignity,” he said.
Tinubu said the training would be open to eligible Nigerians who have completed their secondary school education, with a dedicated quota reserved for members of the National Youth Service Corps.
He noted that expanding electricity metering was critical to improving service delivery and promoting transparency in the power sector.
“When homes and businesses are properly metered, Nigerians can pay for what they actually use. When electricity distribution companies collect revenues more transparently and fairly, they are better able to reduce losses, maintain infrastructure, expand connections and invest in better service.
“This is how we build a power sector that is fairer to consumers, stronger for investors and better able to deliver reliable electricity to the Nigerian people,” the President said.
Tinubu said he had directed the Presidential Metering Initiative to work with the Federal Ministry of Youth Development, the National Power Training Institute of Nigeria, and other relevant stakeholders to commence the programme within the next 30 days.
He encouraged qualified young Nigerians to apply, saying the initiative would provide them with marketable skills while supporting efforts to eliminate estimated billing and improve electricity access nationwide.
“I encourage eligible young Nigerians to apply. Join The Power Force. Learn a skill. Earn with dignity. Help us end estimated billing and be part of the work to light up Nigeria,” he added.
