“Both academic and non academic staff of the institution will play novelty match once in a month, results of the games will be kept with the view to awarding prizes by the end of the year.
“The institution has expanded the competition through the addition of more games this was to keep the promise of developing other sporting events in the Polytechnic”, Dr. Neebee said.
He further said that the competition which is over ten years now will continuously be expanded to accommodate the interest of all students in the school, saying that this year’s event will last for two weeks unlike previous competitions which normally last for one week.
The rector also said that the event is for talent hunting and development adding that there is no winner, no loser as far as the competition was concerned.
Also speaking the Director of Sports of the institution Daye Barango said sports such as table tennis, volleyball, draft, judo, Chess and others have been added to the competition this year.
According to Barango the standard of the game has also improved over the years.
He advised the teams to put in their best as prizes will be awarded at the end of the competition.
The first match of the competition was between School of Engineering and School of Legal Studies which saw Engineering beat hard fighting Legal Studies with a lone goal. However, both teams displayed what can be described as football artistry.
In the female category School of information and communications walked over school of financial studies following non appearance and three points was awarded to them.
