Fubara Commends Nigerian Nurses, Midwives For Effective Healthcare Delivery
Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has commended Nigerian Nurses and Midwives for the critical role they play in promoting effective healthcare delivery in the State.
Governor Fubara gave this commendation while speaking during the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria Examiners Workshop in Port Harcourt, yesterday.
Represented by his Deputy, Prof Ngozi Nma Odu, Governor Fubara said Nigerian nurses are the most sought after across the globe. This, he said “is a reflection of good training and capacity of the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria that has permeated to their training institutions.”
According to Governor Fubara, the theme for the workshop which is ”Integrating Technology into the Nursing and Midwifery Council Nigeria’s Professional Examinations: A Tool for Advancement in Nursing Education and Practice” is very apt in view of the technological advancement of the 21stt century, noting that the role of the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria as a regulatory body cannot be over-emphasised.
The State Chief Executive said the Council has maintained a very high standard and credibility over the years while applauding the Registrar/ CEO, Dr. Faruk Umar Abubakar and his team for their outstanding performance.
In her remarks the State Commissioner for Health Dr. Adaeze Chidinma Oreh said for all countries to each sustainable development goal 3 on health and wellbeing the World Health Organization estimates that the world would need an additional nine million nurses and midwives by the year 2030, adding that nurses play a critical role in health promotion and disease prevention.
Also speaking the Registrar/ CEO of the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria Dr. Faruk Umar Abubakar expressed gratitude to the Rivers State Government for playing host to the Council.
