YPP Withdraws Petition Against Fubara, PDP
The Rivers State Governorship Candidate of the Young Progressive Party (YPP) at the March Governorship/House of Assembly elections, Engr Danagogo Wenike- Briggs, has withdraw his petition against the Peoples Democratic Party and Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara.
The petition was filed before the Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Abuja, the
Federal Capital Territory.
This was contained in a statement by the Publicity Secretary of Wenike-Briggs Development Organisation, Nduchukwu Oriji and made available to newsmen in Port Harcourt, yesterday.
The statement pointed out the need to heed to the call and advice of elders and stakeholders in the state as part of reasons for the withdrawal.
YPP, however, expressed regrets that its candidate’s plans to serve the state as governor could not fly, appealling to Fubara to develop the state.
“After exhaustive consultations with stakeholders, we have decided to withdraw our petition. It was a very difficult decision to take but a necessary one for us as Rivers people to put the interest of our State before personal ambitions”, the statement explained.
It further stated that the goal and desire of the YPP guber candidate was to see a developed and economically prosperous Rivers State where all Rivers citizens and residents can maximally express themselves in a peaceful environment.
According to the statement, the governor has started with some good works and should continue in that manner to reposition the State and make it viable economically.
“This is where I believe all hands should be on deck and our knowledge will play a vital role in moving Rivers State forward”, it stated.
Wenike-Briggs called on Rivers people and his teeming supporters to come together and join hands to build a State that one can be proud to call home.
“Good governance has a trickle-down effect, it is for the people and we should make sure it remains for the people and by the people”, he said.
